WHAT IF EVERYONE IS GROWING AND PIVOTING?

During this “unprecedented” time, many of us are taking the time to re-evaluate what’s important for our careers and our organizations right now. In these uncharted waters, many of us need a reminder about “those other people” with whom we are interacting.

Something I am recognizing about myself, that is consistent with what I’m hearing from my coach and my clients, is how many of us are re-evaluating what matters to them: in their businesses, in their lives, in their careers. I have a very deep appreciation and am inspired by what I’m seeing and hearing from my clients.

If anything has been positive about social distancing and sheltering in place, is that it has given many of us the space to re-evaluate, and I greatly appreciate those who are taking the time to make that a priority and to allow me to help them, as they decide whether or not to “pivot.”

Some of us are feeling forced into deciding our next steps, while others are finding this “pause” to be a creative space. Many are making this introspective exercise a priority right now, and The Votta Group is taking this opportunity to work with our clients regardless of where they fall in their “pivot perspective.”

Change always is a challenge—especially as we witness others changing around us. Sometimes that can be threatening; sometimes, it forces us to re-evaluate ourselves.

We may ask ourselves if they are really evaluating what’s important to them and why they are taking different actions. Perhaps different things are important to them now. Life-changing events (like a Pandemic) have a way of changing priorities and perspectives, so it’s very important to be having these conversations now.

As a coach, I recognize that it is important to have these conversations with my clients so that we can determine what matters to them or to their organization, or in their life. Sometimes the hardest question for us to answer is when someone asks us, “What do you want?”

Clarity about goals will really impact the result. And it will help to determine the most impactful actions that need to be taken to achieve that goal.

We are all dealing with different circumstances, and we are not alone.
